If you want to buy a cheap Galaxy Nexus, now it’s the time, since the device costs merely 9 off contract, so that’s as good as it gets. The price probably applies as retailers and even Samsung try to get rid of the last Nexus phone, to make room in stores for the Samsung Galaxy S III and avoid cannibalizing the product.

You can get the phone with this cool price on Google’s online store. The iPhone 4S right now starts at 9 without carrier commitment, so this is the bargain of a lifetime if you ask me. The flagship Google phone with Android 4.0 was unveiled in October, just like the iPhone 4S, so the price difference puzzles me. Also, the Galaxy Nexus is superior in some areas to the iPhone 4S, like the screen, that was actually the first 720p one on the handset market. Just as a quick reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED display, a dual core 1.2 GHz CPU, 16GB Of storage and 1GB of RAM.

Of course you can keep your money and get the Galaxy S III on contract, or maybe the cooler HTC One X and One S that in some countries even include Beats earbuds. I can’t help but wonder what the price of the Galaxy Nexus will be when even more special offers kick in… If it reaches 0 it certainly becomes a must buy!

HTC has already launched a new model on Sprint, one that for a while looked like a combo between the One X and One S. Now the HTC One XL is preparing for AT&T debut, while the HTC One S is ready to take over the network of T-Mobile. The carrier will sell the thinnest HTC Phone ever for 9 on contract.

This version on T-Mobile won’t have the micro arc oxidation case of the international model, but instead you get a blue gradient finish, if you’re into such design details. Reasons to get the One S are plenty, from the 4.3 inch Super AMOLED qHD screen to the 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, 16GB of storage and 8MP ImageSense camera. There’s also 1GB of RAM, 25GB free cloud storage on DropBox and Android 4.0 ICS as the OS + HTC Sense 4.0. T-Mobile also allows customers to trade in their old phones for credit, so you get this handset in the promotion.

If I’m not mistaking, as usual with T-Mobile the 4G they advertise on the poster here is actually HSPA+. Right about now would be a good idea to trade your HTC Sensation/Sensation XL/XE model for this beauty, especially because of the performance, hot looks and great camera. We all know how poor the Sensation camera was…

Samsung GT-I9300 may or may not be the Galaxy S III but what’s for sure is that it’s a powerful device, at least in the graphics area. The handset’s benchmarks were carelessly left behind on the GLBenchmark testing area, so we can see what the handset is about. They were left there by mistake apparently.

Of course, the results were taken down in the meantime, but at least we have the pics to prove their existence. What we’re dealing with here is a quad core Exynos 4412 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz and using an ARM Mali 400 GPU clocked at 400 MHz, so it’s 50% faster than the Galaxy S II on the graphics side. We certainly wished we had seen the Mali T-604 in action here, a GPU that provides 5 times the performance of the Mali 400 and it’s part of the Exynos 5 series.

Anyway, back to the GT-I9300 its results beat the ones of the Snapdragon S4-based models and Tegra 3 as well, by quite a margin, as shown in these pics. Even the iPhone 4S is surpassed in the GPU tests and the GPU faces the fresh graphical solution on the iPad 3 with bravery. We tend to believe that this is actually the Galaxy S III seeing all of these benchmarks… So, for now the Exynos 4412 GPU is as potent as the new PowerVR on the iPad 3 and keep in mind that this is a prototype Samsung phone, not the final one, so it could be even better.

Samsung may have unveiled way too little in yesterday’s teaser, but there’s some interesting info to learn from its Unpacked Mobile 2012 app. This one you can download from Google Play and as you can see it includes the Galaxy S3 as codename, so this is pretty clear on what product we’ll see on May 3rd.

Till now speculations said that we should expect to either see the Galaxy S III, a Galaxy S II Plus model or maybe a new tablet. However, it’s clear that at least the Galaxy S III will be present in London next week. The app requires Android 2.2, takes up 14MB, it’s free and includes the map of the London area where the event takes place, the event schedule, teasers and even a Live option to watch the mystery unfold. This week was filled with Galaxy S III leaks, starting with a video, live pics, benchmarks a Samsung teaser and now this.

Everyone’s still confused about the smartphone’s specs, but it’s becoming clear that we’ll only get a slight improvement over the predecessor. We will get a quad core Exynos CPU, a 4.6 inch 720p display, an 8 megapixel camera, NFC, Android 4.0 and 16GB of storage… Would you buy this handset, considering it doesn’t bring a huge improvement to the table?

After a bunch of soak tests for Android 4.0 on the Motorola Droid RAZR, it’s time for another update, this time a firmware one. Earlier this month Moto was playing with the idea of an ICS update though that soak test, that also involved the Droid RAZR MAXX at some point, but in the end it was pulled.

Last week we also saw a soak test for the latest flavour of Gingerbread, but it was only involving a bunch of software fixes. The new update that we found out about today takes care of the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX and brings them up to software version 6.12.181, still with Gingerbread 2.3.6 as the main OS. The update takes up 17.4MB and it doesn’t take a long while to install. The software brings better device stability and battery life, better Bluetooth call volume, improved security and IPv6 implementation.

There’s also improved text message delivery, better visual voice mail experience, a bug fix for the HotSpots with WPS security and more accurate 4G connectivity icon. You’ll also notice some changes to the MotoCast applications. Hopefully, Ice Cream Sandwich will also arrive soon enough and for now remember to install OTA RootKeeper and backup everything before you update. OTA RootKeep has the role of restoring the root and restarting the phone even after the update.

Chinese parts vendor TVC Mall has already started offering iPhone 5 components, namely Home buttons that can be seen in the following images. It’s not uncommon to start seeing the parts of a yet unlaunched device and yes, this has happened before, a bunch of times actually.

The buttons for the iPhone 5 are available for sale in black and white and they’re a bit different from what we’re used to. The new button seems to have a rounded square shape like the iOS app icons. However, they keep the round depression for the button, as the current version and TVC Mall mentions the differences in its description. It’s not yet clear if the average user will notice the difference, since the rounded square portion could as well be flush with the surface of the new iPhone and have the rounded portion in a depression.

There’s also the option that the rounded square portion is placed below the surface of the device and invisible to the user. It’s very likely that the mechanism will be a flush one and only show the user the standard round Home button area, like previous versions. In the meantime, know that the home buttons have also appeared on TrueSupplier and TVC Mall has a solid history of leaking parts for unlaunched iOS devices…
